Across Maui, there is a growing awareness that supporting young people requires more than a single moment—it requires consistency, care, and community.

What Makes You Feel Beautiful is stepping into that need through the continued growth of the F.L.Y. (First Love Yourself) program—a Social Emotional Learning (SEL) program created to support middle school girls during one of the most important stages of their development.

Currently active at Lokelani Intermediate School, F.L.Y. provides a dedicated space for girls to build emotional awareness, strengthen communication skills, and develop a deeper sense of self. These are not just lessons—they are foundations that shape how young girls move through the world.

This expansion has been made possible through new grant funding support, allowing the program to continue reaching girls with intention and consistency.

Alongside this growth, program leadership has expanded with the addition of a Program Director, strengthening the structure and long-term vision of F.L.Y. as it continues to evolve.

This moment reflects something larger happening across Hawaiʻi.

There is increasing recognition that long-term outcomes for young people are shaped early—through mentorship, leadership development, and exposure to real-world opportunities. When these elements are present, young people are more likely to remain connected, confident, and engaged in their future.

Programs like F.L.Y. and MAUI GEMS exist within this space—bridging the gap between where a young person is today and what is possible for them tomorrow.

As this work continues to grow, so does the need for community involvement.

What Makes You Feel Beautiful is currently:

Seeking a Program Facilitator to support the F.L.Y. program

Welcoming volunteers who feel called to support youth programming

Expanding its community of individuals committed to supporting Maui’s girls

Supporting Maui’s youth is not the work of one organization—it is a shared effort.

And through that shared effort, something powerful is created.
