Empowering Maui's Future: Inspiring Stories from the MAUI GEMS Program

At What Makes You Feel Beautiful (WMYFB), we believe in the power of transformation through empowerment, education, and community support. Our MAUI GEMS program stands as a testament to this belief, providing young girls with the tools and confidence they need to rise above challenges and embrace their full potential.

Discovering Inner Strength

The journey of self-discovery and empowerment is unique for every girl who joins the MAUI GEMS program. From overcoming personal obstacles to achieving academic and career goals, the stories of our GEMS are filled with resilience, determination, and hope.

Empowering Through Education

Education is at the heart of what we do. By offering financial literacy workshops, career development seminars, and academic support, we equip our girls with the knowledge and skills they need to succeed. Our holistic approach ensures that each girl is prepared not just for academic success but for lifelong personal and professional growth.

Building a Supportive Community

One of the most powerful aspects of the MAUI GEMS program is the sense of community it fosters. Our mentors, volunteers, and participants create a supportive network where girls feel safe to express themselves, share their dreams, and seek guidance. This community is a source of strength and inspiration, encouraging each girl to believe in her abilities and strive for excellence.

Celebrating Achievements

We celebrate every milestone our GEMS achieve, whether it’s graduating from high school, securing a college scholarship, or landing their first job. These achievements are a reflection of their hard work and the unwavering support of the MAUI GEMS community. We are proud of every girl who has passed through our program and look forward to the incredible contributions they will make to the world.

Special Thanks to Mary Albitz

We'd like to extend a special thanks to Mary Albitz, the owner of Island Art Party and a dedicated WMYFB volunteer, sponsor, and MAUI GEMS mentor. Last Friday, Mary sponsored a fantastic paint night event for the MAUI GEMS program at QKC, next door to Ben Franklin. The evening was filled with creativity, laughter, and bonding, providing our girls with a memorable and enriching experience.

Special Thanks to Captain Kekai Brown

We are excited to share highlights from our recent movie night where Captain Kekai Brown joined us as a special guest. Captain Brown shared her inspiring journey, engaged in a lively Q&A session, and motivated our girls with powerful messages on leadership and overcoming self-critical thoughts. It was an unforgettable evening filled with empowerment and inspiration.
